Adopt-a-Hydrant Program

Help us, help you!

While you are out shoveling your driveway and sidewalks, take a few minutes to  clear a three foot area around the fire hydrant.  Doing so, will save valuable time needed during a fire.  Fire trucks carry a finite amount of water.  The first task upon arriving at a fire, one of the crew members must locate and connect to a water supply from the nearest hydrant. Hydrants covered in snow can be difficult to locate. Keeping them clear can mean easier access to water and more time doing what really matters – fighting the fire.
